The project story

In 2015 Emirates asked us to build its sales and ticketing office in Amman. The airline’s head office in Dubai supplied the design concept: the signage, furniture, graphics and the layout of the sales and office areas. Our job was to build it to the brand standard, in 125 m², on a short timeline.

We spent one month on shop drawings and materials, then two months on site. Emirates wanted the brand standard followed in full, so we sent the drawings to the Emirates HQ international projects manager for sign-off. We designed the counters ourselves, including the glass ticketing counter with its green LED underlight.

Time and access set the pace. The property owner limited working hours, so we agreed an access schedule in writing before the first day and worked nights and weekends. We ordered glass, joinery and air-conditioning units while the drawings were still in approval. Fabrication happened off site. Two crews worked in parallel in separate zones, one on mechanical and electrical, one on finishing. We supervised on site every day against a fixed handover checklist.

We handed over the office in July 2015. The gold Arabic and English lettering on the entrance wall, the glass desks in the sales hall and the A380 mural are all part of the build.

Project challenge

Emirates HQ in Dubai set brand standards to follow in full. Three months from first drawing to handover. The property owner limited working hours.

Stones Jordan’s approach

We turned the HQ concept into shop drawings and sent them to the Emirates HQ international projects manager for sign-off. We ordered glass, joinery and air-conditioning units during design, got shop drawings approved alongside site works, fabricated off site and ran two crews in parallel. We agreed an access schedule in writing at the start, worked nights and weekends, and supervised daily against a fixed handover checklist.
