The project story

A Contemporary Reading of Islamic Design This Jeddah villa is framed as a study in restraint: an approximately 800-square-meter family residence where Islamic design references are expressed through proportion, rhythm, and filtered light rather than applied ornament alone. The courtyard establishes the central atmosphere. Limestone-toned walls, a reflecting pool, and a mature olive tree create a quiet threshold between architecture and landscape. Geometric screens temper the strong coastal light while casting patterned shadows that change through the day. Inside, warm materials and uncluttered planning support family life and hospitality. Arches and repeated vertical lines provide continuity, while carefully controlled contrasts give important spaces a distinct presence. The result is a contemporary home that acknowledges regional visual culture through calm composition and practical geometry.

Project challenge

Design focus: interpret Islamic architectural character in a contemporary family villa without allowing decorative elements to overwhelm clarity, comfort, or everyday function.

Stones Jordan’s approach

Editorial design response: simplified arches, rhythmic screens, balanced proportions, warm natural finishes, and a courtyard composition that uses water, planting, and filtered light as primary features.

Materials and defining details

Editorial palette: limestone-toned surfaces, warm timber, reflective water, patterned metal screens, textured neutral fabrics, and understated bronze details.
